What inspire's Taliifah's music?
My greatest musical inspiration comes from the golden era of hip-hop throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. I'm naturally drawn to slow boom bap production that allows lyricism to take centre stage, giving space for intricate writing, expressive cadence and a variety of flows.
Beyond hip-hop, I find inspiration in nature, ancient wisdom, symbolism, philosophy, mythology and the transformational experiences that shape us throughout life.
How would you describe your sound?
My music blends conscious hip-hop with dark, atmospheric and ritual-inspired soundscapes that create space for reflection and transformation. I intentionally gravitate towards cinematic production and slower tempos that allow every lyric to breathe and every verse to be experienced with purpose.
What do you write about?
Every project explores different aspects of the human experience. You'll hear themes surrounding healing, identity, resilience, spirituality, creativity, shadow work, personal growth and the journey of remembering who we are beneath fear and expectation.
I don't write songs simply to entertain—I write to start conversations, challenge perspectives and offer listeners a space to reflect on their own experiences.

Why are lyric breakdowns an
important part of your music?
Many of my songs contain multiple layers of meaning, symbolism and personal references that aren't always obvious on the first listen. Through lyric breakdowns, I invite listeners into the creative process, sharing the inspiration behind each line and encouraging deeper conversations around the ideas explored within the music.
I create music with longevity in mind rather than following trends. Every song forms part of a larger body of work that connects creativity, philosophy and healing. My intention is to create music that people can return to years later and continue discovering new meanings with every listen.
